The 29th edition of The American French Film Festival (TAFFF) is set to take place from October 28 to November 2 at the Directors Guild of America complex in Hollywood.
Organised by the Franco-American Cultural Fund, TAFFF is regarded as the largest French film festival in North America and the biggest event globally dedicated to French cinema and television.
Last year’s edition opened with the Hollywood premiere of Emilia Perez, which went on to earn 13 Oscar nominations and several wins, including a BAFTA for Best Non-English Language Film. Other featured titles included The Count of Monte Cristo, Marching Band, Holy Cow, and The Most Precious of Cargo.
Cécile Rap-Veber, president of the Franco-American Cultural Fund and CEO of SACEM, described the 2024 edition as a major success. “It featured a star-studded opening night and a line-up of films that went on to receive prestigious awards in the US, France and internationally,” she said. “This year, we look forward to discovering more cinematic gems and welcoming audiences for six days of the best in French film and series.”
Michael Mann, filmmaker and board member of the Franco-American Cultural Fund, highlighted the festival’s role in fostering cross-cultural connections. “TAFFF is more than a platform for French cinema to gain exposure in Hollywood,” he said. “It serves as a bridge between US and French filmmakers, supporting collaboration and connection at the start of the awards season. The festival has grown in importance, helping present standout films like *Les Misérables* by Ladj Ly and *Emilia Pérez* by Jacques Audiard.”
The 2025 edition promises another rich lineup as TAFFF continues to cement its role in the international film circuit.
