Africa Magic is setting the stage for an exciting October with the launch of seven original shows across its Showcase and indigenous channels.

The announcement was made at an exclusive showcase where audiences were treated to first looks at dramas, thrillers, epics, and even a music reality competition, all deeply rooted in African storytelling. The lineup stays true to Africa Magic’s tradition of creating homegrown content that mirrors the realities, cultures, and imaginations of its viewers.

The rollout began on September 29 with The Low Priest, a supernatural thriller centred on two rivals whose desperate act inside a sacred shrine changes their destinies forever, leaving one chosen by the gods and the other cursed. On the same day, Mother of the Bride premiered, telling the story of a Lagos matriarch racing against time to marry off one of her four daughters to safeguard her family’s legacy. October 2 will introduce Etiti, which follows the journey of a fearless warrior trapped between worlds who must expose his killer and rescue his bride from a forbidden ritual.

Later in the month, on October 19, Rise Again will make its debut, capturing a moving story of redemption as a dancer fights to reclaim his dream after betrayal and injury.

Africa Magic’s Indigenous channels are also part of the October spotlight. On October 11, Kukoyi will premiere on Africa Magic Yoruba, tracing the tale of Aremu, who takes up the ominous role of Abobaku in exchange for wealth, knowing that his fate is bound to that of the king.

On Africa Magic Igbo, Mgbuka will explore loyalty, betrayal, and vengeance through the story of two childhood friends turned rivals in the scrap business. The Hausa channel will bring Sabon Tauraron Arewa, a music reality competition that shines a light on fresh vocal talents from northern Nigeria as they compete for fame and a grand prize.

Atinuke Babalola, Executive Head of Content and Channels, MultiChoice West Africa, described the rollout as an extension of Africa Magic’s mission. “As Big Brother Naija wraps up, we are excited to roll out fresh stories that speak to who we are as Africans. These new titles cut across cultures and genres, but they are united by a focus on authentic storytelling that reflects our people, our values, and our creativity.”

The October slate underlines MultiChoice’s commitment to amplifying African narratives and ensuring that local talent and culture continue to take centre stage in primetime television.
