In a stunning turn of events, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has strongly denied allegations that he forged his school certificate, which led to the nullification of his governorship election by the Osun State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal.

According to a statement released by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, on Tuesday, Adeleke stated that he did not forge his certificate and instead, the mistake was made by his school.

The statement partly reads:

We seek to clarify a very sinister component of the Kangaroo judgement on Osun Governorship election. Governor Ademola Adeleke did not forge any certificate or testimonial.

The Issue of forgery has to do with an error on school testimonial which bear Osun instead of Oyo state. Osun State was part of Oyo State when Governor Adeleke completed his high school education in 1981.

The issuing school testified before Court of Appeal in 2018, that it was their error, which has nothing to do with Governor Adeleke. The Court of Appeal ruled that there was no forgery and exonerated Governor Adeleke of any forgery.

The ruling by the Tribunal stated that the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate in the July 16, 2022 governorship election, Adegboyega Oyetola, had successfully proven a case of forgery against Adeleke.

Despite the allegations, Governor Adeleke remains defiant and has vowed to clear his name, stating that he did not forge his certificate and that the error made by his school was solely responsible for the controversy surrounding his election.

He also expressed disappointment in the Tribunal’s ruling, which he believes was politically motivated and aimed at tarnishing his reputation and credibility.

The case has sparked widespread public interest and has attracted widespread media attention, with many Nigerians taking to social media to express their opinions and call for a fair investigation into the matter.

While the governor and his supporters claim the allegations are false and politically motivated, his opponents have called for a thorough investigation and for justice to be served.

Meanwhile, the controversy surrounding Governor Ademola Adeleke’s election and the allegations of certificate forgery continue to dominate the headlines, as both sides remain steadfast in their positions.

The matter is now set to be resolved in the courts, where the governor and his legal team will have the opportunity to present their case and prove their innocence.

The outcome of this case will have significant implications for the political landscape of Osun State and the entire country.
