Francis Omeife, the diabolic herbalist

A local native doctor, popularly called ‘Dibia’ in the Igbo speaking parts of the country, Francis Omeife, has been busted and banished from his community in Okpoko in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State, for allegedly using women’s underwear, bras and pads for diabolical purposes.

The ‘Didia’ who was almost lynched by an angry mob after he was apprehended, was also accused of using items like hair, shoes and carved effigies as part of his ritual materials.

Omeife’s cover was blown when a woman identified as Chinenye, whom he had allegedly held captive spiritually, for over five years, narrated her ordeal to her friend, Chioma, that she saw that she saw her pants among other women’s pants being used for ritual by the native doctor.

Chioma reportedly went with her friend to the native doctor’s house at 1, Ezeakunne Street and saw her pants with others in some pots of concoctions. Her screams in surprise attracted other neighbours and some of the women who went to the scene, were surprised to also see their underwear in the pot.

The women raised further alarm which attracted the youths of the community and they stormed the place.

Before Omeife could escape, the angry youths descended on him with clubs, sticks and machetes and could have killed him but for the intervention of a group of men believed to be members of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), who arrived the scene and and rescued him.

The youth then went on to set Omeife’s belongings ablaze and banished him from Okpoko, a community near Onitsha.

The native doctor, it was gathered, had allegedly confessed that he used the items found with him for rituals, claiming to have gotten his powers from the water which he used to make a woman to menstruate ceaselessly.
