The release of kidnapped Bishop Chikwe and driver, confirmed by Archbishop of Owerri

Anthony Obinna, the Archbishop of Owerri has confirmed the release of the kidnapped Bishop Moses Chikwe and his driver, Mr Ndubuisi Robert on New Year’s Day.

Bishop Chikwe and his driver Ndubuisi who were kidnapped on the 27th of December, 2020, were released on the first day of the year 2021 at 10:45pm, Bishop Obinna confirms. He reported that the driver sustained an injury at the hands of the kidnappers and was immediately taken to the hospital.

The Archbishop reported that he was unable to see the Bishop when he went for a visit to his house due to tiredness and “traumatic experience.”

Prior to this time, Pope Francis had called for the release of the Pope in his New Year Message.

Addressing the public on the Bishops release, the Nigerian Police confirmed that NO RANSOM WAS PAID FOR THE RELEASE OF BOTH THE BISHOP AND HIS DRIVER.
