INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY: ANAMBRA STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY SPEAKER ADDRESSES WOMEN

Today the 8th of march 2021, the world celebrates the International Women’s Day; the speaker of the State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Uche Okafor has called on various legislative institutions in the country to accord women their rightful position with maximum security through legislations.

In a goodwill message to the women, Right Honourable Okafor praised the contributions of some notable women to the growth and development of the country and urged the young women to be diligent and comported in order to become virtuous women.

The Speaker who used the occasion to call for total elimination of all forms of discrimination against women as well as all harmful practices, enjoined women themselves to form co-operatives to assist one another.

He commended the wife of the Governor, Dr. Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano for using her pet project, “Caring Family Enhancement Initiative, CAFÉ, to uplift the living standard of women in the state.

Right Honourable Okafor appealed to government at different levels to give women a chance to excel in politics by appointing them to key positions of authority.
