From The Nation we gathered that, despite the warning from the Federal Government that directed the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) to retrieve diplomatic and official passports from unauthorized holders, some people refused to comply with the new directive.

This led to Senator Hassan Barata being arrested by Saudi Arabian authorities after he was found traveling with a revoked diplomatic passport and claiming to be an employee of the Nigerian Embassy of which after investigation it was found out that he lied

Barata become the first scapegoat after the warning about returning the diplomatic passports by unauthorised holders, he was a former chairman of the Senate Committee on Culture and Tourism. He represented the Adamawa South Senatorial District between 2011 and 2015 as a PDP lawmaker. He defected to APC last february but returned to the PDP after losing the APC governorship ticket bid.

Senator Barata refuted above claims to be false in a call put across to him, he said he has not travelled ouf of the country since he completed his tenure in thge 7th senate.

He also said that he is still in All Peoples Congress APC ,he said he left Yola on friday for Kaduna with Governor of Adamawa State Jibrilla Bindow.

He said i have been in Nigeria; i dont know anything about anybody`s arrest in Saudi Arabia, i am an notin detention in Saudi Arabia , i am here in Nigeria. According to him if he has defected APC he wouldnt have travelled with the Governor.

It wasĀ  mischievous to malign his image ,he is thinking about suing against the press though amicable resolution is an option. He will rather enrich his green passport from the miles he had gained than using diplomatic passport.
