European Union Visits Anambra State for Business

The European Union (EU) ambassador to Nigeria, Michael Arrion, has said that the union would collaborate with the Anambra State government in a five-year programme that would improve the welfare of the people of the state.

Arrion stated this after a closed-door meeting with Governor Willie Obiano at Government House, Awka, on Thursday, September 17, 2015.

He says plans are on to enter into collaboration with the state government for a five year developmental programme that would improve the lifes of the state citizenry

The EU Ambassador said the visit was part of his tour of partner-states, to know those ready for more programmes of which Anambra is one expressing happiness that the state did well in the two local governments they partner the state.

He explained that they had fruitful dialogue during the meeting, expressing the hope that their co-operation with the state will be broad this time.

Responding, Governor Obiano pointed out that the state did well on co-operating, with them on girl child education, as attested to by the EU ambassador.Governor Obiano requested that the partnership will be spread to other council areas, noting that the state is working out modalities to ensure that communities where EU projects are sited take ownership of such projects, to ensure their longevity and optimal use.

The Governor added that the state will not relent in promoting and supporting groups and individuals who have the interest of the state at heart.
