The Anambra State government has signed an agreement of Five Hundred And Fifty Thousand Dollars ($550,000) agreement with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, for the implementation of Learning Initiative and capacity building for Entrepreneurs. The contract was signed at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia which has a three – year duration with a counterpart fund of One Hundred And Fifty Thousand Dollars ($150,000) to be paid by Anambra State ,while UNIDO will pay the sum of Four Hundred Thousand Dollars ($400,000).
The program includes the training of 200 teachers across 41 senior secondary schools, students as well as those in technical education, and targeted to upgrade the skills of teachers, students, entrepreneurs and Small Medium Entrepreneur (S.M.E) to create business development through Information Technology and business skills.
Gov. Willie Obiano
While signing the agreement for the State, Gov. Willie Obiano stated that the agreement is in line with his administrative blueprints on education, geared towards upgrading and the renovation of schools, provision of teachers and students’ welfare, among others. He further stated that his vision is to ensure that every youth will be gainfully employed, becomes self-sufficient and be employer of labour.
Mr. Jean Bakole
In his remark, The ECOWAS representative and Regional Director, UNIDO, Mr. Jean Bakole , the Commissioner for Economic Planning, Budget and Development Partners, Mr. Mark Okoye, and Commissioner for Education, Prof Kate Omenugha and other dignitaries in Anambra State who were present in meeting applauded Governor Obiano for his proactive measures put in place to cushion the economic recession, which according to him had been part of his blueprint to reduce the sufferings of the people and boost the economy of the state.
