687 Suspects Arrested In Anambra State – NDLEA

A total of 687 drug suspects were arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in the last two years in Anambra state.
A beak down of the arrested suspects show that some were apprehended over trafficking on substances confirmed to be cannabis sativa, cocaine, heroin, psychotropic.
Out of the number, 62 of them were females, while 59 of the suspects were convicted for the various offenses.
Briefing reporters on Tuesday at the NDLEA headquarters in Awka, the state commander, Sule Momodu, said the offences were between 2014 and 2015 respectively.
However, three of the suspects were arrested January 9th, 2016, at Inland town Onitsha and Okija respectively with 124.2 and 1.790 kilograms of the substances, including a Toyota Avalon packed with the drugs.
Momodu, gave the names of those arrested as Monday Eze, Uche Ojuma with the vehicle, while Chukwuma Ibisi was arrested in Onitsha selling the drugs like recharge cards.
Breaking down how the arrests were made, the NDLEA commander, said 395 persons were arrested in 2014, while the remaining 289 were in 2015 and the three in 2016.
